'Desire Me' (2024) is a series of portraits created within the confines of the domestic environment of the bedroom, almost synonymous with the concept of relationships. The portraits explore the relationship between the transgender body and the desirability that is associated with it, by focusing on specific details of the portraits to emphasise this want. Specific components are cut out of the portrait such as the eyes or the hands and are isolated against a stark white background to achieve the most contrast and draw the most attention towards the gestures chosen. These gestures have been appropriated from classical Western Art featuring strong, emotive figures, both male and female, such as Botticelli’s The Birth of Venus (1485) and Cabanel’s The Fallen Angel (1847).
